Our Story

Losing just a paw was the push Jessica needed to make a dream a reality. Jessica love for dogs started at a very young age and it just kept growing and growing . She would do whatever she could to provide the best care she could. She learned at a young age medical bills were no joke, thanks to her very first Siberian Husky Princess. After that hard lesson she didn’t let it stop her from growing her pack but learning maybe pet insurance was the way to go to help get them the treatment they might need in the future. She did her research and made hard choices but decided that getting Nationwide pet insurance would give her the hope she needed to be able to afford the care they might eventually need. So at one years old her other dogs were enrolled. After a long 8 year commitment and higher cost growing she kept going knowing it would eventually pay off. Unfortunately that wasn’t the case when she needed them the most. In March 2025, we discovered a lump on Pixie’s rear leg and took her in to get it checked. We learned she had cancer and the only way to make sure we got it all out was to amputate her rear leg. In a heart beat we knew what we had to do and took the necessary steps. Once it was time to submit the insurance claim we learned they dropped our seniors dogs out of no where (2 month before they turned 9) and only kept our youngest (4 year old ) . It was a heartbreaking shock since we were not even aware, but either way we were there to fight for her baby and not give up on her. We weren’t the only family that was dropped and there were thousands of other pet that Nationwide decided they no longer wanted to cover. A lot of them being older and having medical conditions that would prevent them from get coverage else where. So even though Pixie had to lose Jess A Paw we know we can’t make a change if we don’t try .Our fur babies are not just animals but family members and deserve the best chance to survive when unexpected health conditions come up and we will continue to fight right next to you !
